If you ever saw the World Poker Tour first event in Europe you will remember the crazy Greek guy. Anyway, with his winnings he’s been touring the world and he showed up in Toronto. There was some kid who was short stacked so he went all in with JJ. Mr Crete called the all in with half his stack. He had… Q 7. And he was the dealer. He was so anxious that he fumbled and burned a 7 and still managed to flip a Q and another 7. He than managed to go on some sort of crazy tirade about how the other guy dared call him or something like that. Anywho, the rest of the evening was uneventful. I called an all in with half my stack. I had A-Q she had A-5, random dude had something else and I lost. A couple of hands later I was down to short stack and went all in with 4-4 only to lose to some A-8 random hand with two callers. Shrug. I think Daphne had poor luck with the cards tonight as well. I think I played decent tonight. I was pretty aggressive initially and won a couple of small hands with junk. My next couple of hands were Matty P style, hmmm 7-4, but they are suited. I quickly gave up all my gains. Must learn balance!

April 23, 2007Sorry, I’m behind in my posting. I still have to do the winner from the big Poker night. That will follow. This week is pretty crazy for me + with my exam looming my time is limited. That being said I signed up for Floor Hockey via the Toronto Sports and Social Club, and our first game is tomorrow night. Should be fun…

April 20, 2007What a retarded play that is. Wow, I am really bad. Long version to follow this weekend (I hope). Played at Shoeless Joe’s tonight with the Dragon Lady. She placed 6 out of 35 I think. I was 17th. She has the force this one does…
I also ran into an old friend there. He played at my table and played all his hands technically perfect. I’m glad he wasn’t there to watch me make such a horrible call! April 17, 2007Developing… Will be posting the winner pics from Sat nights game. I played relatively well. I overplayed AA when we were still at 3 tables. I played the rest of the hands during the prelude to the final table really well. I played poorly at the final table. I overplayed A-J, got caught in an expensive battle for almost 20% of my stack in the first hand of the final table and was a bit too passive. The wierd thing that just popped into my head is that I play better on auto-pilot! My best play was while I was busy running the tournament. It’s when things slowed down that my game slowed down a bit…

April 10, 2007Looks to be a good one as I have had a lot of RSVP’s so far. I haven’t been able to play for awhile except with my poker compadre Daphne. We played a couple of times at the Pirana Poker evernts and both of us made the Final 8, so that was good news in theory. I’m just hoping all the technical aspects run flawlessly. Should be good times as I think 1/2 the people are new players. Another 8 people had scheduling difficulties so I’m hoping if this continues for the next couple of games I can convince the girlfriend to let me get another table. Now where to store it…
Deal or No Deal?
April 9, 2007We had dinner over at my girlfriend’s best friends home tonight and the show Deal or No Deal was on. This has to be one of the dumbest shows I have ever seen. But I guess the point of TV is to put people into awkward situations or ones in which they are not capable of optimizing the outcomes. The show is centered on basic statistical probability, so of course they put on people who most likely have not even been to college. This is all for the amusement of the viewers and the off chance that the contestant will be blessed by lady luck. And it resurrected the career of someone who had stooped to doing some really really bad commercials (although when I mentioned this apparantly Jessica Simpson is making Howie Mandel’s commercials look like Oscar material).
I guess…..
