I’ve been having an e-mail conversation with a fellow blogger which led me to think about why I am into playing poker. I didn’t really enjoy poker the first time around, and played Magic instead for a couple of years. It was a blast and I played with a great group of guys which made it that much better. It’s definitely not for the money, as that usually goes towards lunch/dinner, or to help pay for my chips…
The main reason for the home game is:
- To socialize as I have practically no free time
- Practice my reading skills
- Try out new stuff
- Battle of Wits, as it is very much a thinking game
- To practice discipline. To play naturally is to lose.
I think I have a structure figured out for a potential cash game. It would be $.25/$.50 No limit Hold-Em with a Min buy-in of $20 and a Max of $60… Anybody have any thoughts?
